Does erythritol cause food allergies?
Erytritol is a kind of sugar alcohol, and is used in commercialized drinks and snacks mainly as a substitute for sugar in many cases.
The sugar alcohols, including erythritol, reportedly cause allergic symptoms but the reason why they do so is unclear.
Many facts are still unclear, including, whether the allergic symptoms are caused solely by the sugar alcohol or by a synergistic effect with other substances such as protein, and thus future investigations are required.
